The London Marathon.
I really enjoyed watching the Marathon yesterday, it bought back memories from a year ago when I did the run with one of my sons, Ben. He did it in 3.30hrs and I was just over 5.00hrs, but I didn't stop and I didn't walk at all. At the end it was the best feeling ever, we had done it and raised a few quid for SPARKS Charity at the same time.
During the last few miles it did get tough and it was hard but it was was brilliant and a fantastically well organised day.
The following day I didn't feel too bad for a 56 year old, my hips had been a bit sore during the last few miles, but were feeling good now.
In fact I mentioned that I would like to do it again.
After a year off from running, and cycling come to think of it, I have decided to get my running shoes on again and start pounding out a few miles. I always run better if I know that I am running for a purpose and after watching the London Marathon yesterday I think I have one more Marathon in me. So that means that I have 364 days to get fit, sort out a place in the race for a charity or go in the public ballot, and then start raising a bit of sponsorship money again. Any suggestions on this front will be gladly considered.
So that's it, no more junk food for a year, no Marlboro Lights, and plenty of juicing, running and probably a fair bit of cycling too. I fancy doing a Bristol to Ipswich cycle ride too,,,it is only 220 miles approx, so should be able to do it in 24 hours!!!!! Well that's the challenge, not sure when I'll be doing that challenge but sometime soon though, and I am not sure who I am doing it with but my mate Geordie offered to do it.
Anyway, if you want to follow the running or cycling progress I will keep putting info on here as regularly as possible.
Below is today's gentle intro X-country run through Ashton Court, Bristol.
