Well it's all going on in Bristol with the football, City have won their third game on the run and Rovers win their first game under the new Jordanian ownership. Looks like everybody should be happy on the professional front. I bet it was a different story in the Downs League today. The weather has been atrocious, wet, cold and extremely windy. Lots of participants playing this afternoon purely for the love of the game. On a day like today you sometimes have to wait 5 minutes for your ball to come back from 3 pitches away, especially in this wind. It is a shame that the Oldest League in the country, The Downs League, gets no financial help from anywhere, apart from the council (?) and team match subs which may or may not go towards the upkeep of the facilities but I doubt it. Our professional game is so rich at the 'top end' and yet so poor at the 'proper grass roots end' that it is an insult to those who play at that level and who are probably true, die-hard supporters of the professional game. I think the Game has lost the plot somewhere along the line!
