Hi all, sorry for the absence yesterday, the flu bug hit hard. Not hard enough to stop me from clearing out the Orsom Ltd office and helping relocate to the middle of Clifton Village. The start of a new era for Louise and Toby. Today it was left to the grafters to finish the move, I was on dog walking duties early morning with Baxter. After that it was time to escape down the motorway to Burnham and Berrow GC for a practise. Just a couple of baskets of balls, an hour on the putting green, a few chip and runs then off up the first fairway in the peace and quiet, and sunshine! There was enough time to play the first four holes on the championship course and then cut across back via the channel course. The Channel course is a fantastic place to play and occasionally hit an extra ball. Hopefully all this practise will pay off this summer. I tried to get the Stapledord competition this weekend but it was already full, apparently you need to book 13 days in advance and by 8am to even stand a chance of getting in,,talk about planning ahead! Hopefully as the days become longer then more members will get a chance of playing in their own clubs competitions! Recently I have been delving into the past and pulling out a few pictures, programmes and cuttings to share with you all. This cutting was from my schoolboy international rugby days and on the day my father thought that I was pushing it a bit to attempt a penalty kick from so far out. He of little faith! My older brother Mark had captained England U15's the year before, I think Dad was pretty pleased even though he was a football man. In fact my father Rex came and watched many games that featured either Mark or myself, be it rugby, cricket or football. He was quite a popular figure at the county rugby matches in winter, standing there with his best pal Bob, sharing a bottle of brandy or whisky with everybody. He was a publican after all and always a very generous man. It was a very sad day the day that Bob died, after an accident in his farmhouse, and it took my father a long long time to get over it. Bob died in the early 70's, as far as I can remember, and I left home for Ipswich Town FC in 1975. We lost Rex C H Osman on the 9th June 2005 after a short battle with cancer. Tom, my oldest had just turned 18 and the twins Ben and Toby were coming up to 15. We all miss him lots.
